Ontario Superior Court judge strikes down prostitution law

Melissa Petro Deserves Your Love

Here’s an interview I did on Fox yesterday about my friend Melissa Petro.  She is a smart, responsible, talented, capable young woman who’s being shamed and vilified for writing about her time as a sex worker.  Let’s stand by her and let the world know that sex workers are not monsters who can’t teach kids, or be anything they want to be.  Listen how much hate is heaped upon her by the “psychologist” and the “mommy”.  Shameful.

Saudade.  That’s Brazilian for being happy and sad at the same time.  I always feel that way as summer dies and Old Man Winter gets ready to blow cold all up in me.  And this year’s no exception.  I’m sad that another summer has come and gone.  It has become increasingly obvious that I’m never going to get to play shortstop for the New York Yankees, and that makes me sad.  I didn’t get to swim nearly enough in the ocean this summer, and that makes me very sad.  But on the happy side, I got to hang out with Olive in Paris which was magnifique. http://www.davidhenrysterry.com/olive-in-paris/.  I got to spend a week working in Amsterdam.  I got to watch a ton and a half of the World Cup soccer and talk on NPR about it.  And I have much to look forward to as Indian Summer peeks around the corner.  First and foremost, Olive turns three on September 13.  I asked her what she wanted for her birthday.  “Cake!” she said.

“Pitchapalooza” The “American Idol” for Books
Moderator/creator of “Pitchapalooza” is Arielle Eckstut,
author of THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO GETTING YOUR
BOOK PUBLISHED: How to Write It, Sell It, and Market It …
Successfully!, revised for 2010 from Workman Publishing.
Arielle is an agent-at-large at the Levine Greenberg Literary
Agency, the author of seven books, and a successful entrepreneur
whose iconic company, LittleMissMatched, grossed over
30 million in retail sales last year.
New York Times bestselling author Timothy Ferris (THE
4-HOUR WORKWEEK) says about THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE:
I started with nothing but an idea, and then I bought this book.
Soon I had an A-list agent, a near six-figure advance, and
multiple TV deals in the works. Buy it and memorize it. This
little tome is the quiet secret of rockstar authors.
This panel is a terrific opportunity for anyone who has an idea
for a book OR who has a finished book but needs help pitching
it to bookstores.
Everyone in the audience will benefit from the process, but only
the first 10 people to register and pay for the conference may
actually make their pitch and receive a critique from the panel
that includes Gayle Shanks, immediate Past President of the
American Booksellers Association, owner of Changing Hands
Bookstore in Tempe, AZ; Katie Schmidt, Small Publisher Liaison
for Tattered Cover Bookstore; and Phoebe Gaston, Sales
Rep for Workman Publishing Group.
